SADSAC: Stratford - Maffra 22July

Attendance was for some reason down for the relatively easy lap around the Stratford region on Sunday.
Only 9 riders on the cool but fine morning at the Stratford railway station. We thought we had arrived before the Maffra couple only to have them appear from the platform, seemingly arriving on a phantom train.
Once we had all fully assembled we headed out along the highway and Bengworden Road. Having passed the Marley Point turnoff we encountered a slight headwind. As we were just starting a 10km westerly leg we hoped it would stay light. Shortly afterwards unexpected drops fell from the sky, fortunately just a few.
Having reached the river the strengthening headwind was behind us and the run to Maffra was easy.
After lunch at the port, with some welcome home cooked treats, it was on to the bikes again for the short run back to Stratford. Reappearing on this ride was Alistair's human powered bicycle. Good to see that he was able to still ride well unassisted. We decided to detour the support vehicle around the flooded Weirs Crossing but as it turned out the road was almost dry. Those absent missed a good ride.
