SADSAC: Maffra - Blue Pools 02September

What a pleasant surprise to see 16 happy riders for our Blue Pools ride.  Being as it was Father's Day we weren't too sure how many people would be able to turn up.  There were also some other rides on this day, one being the Audax ride to Licola which our trusty President and blogger chose to do.  That meant that Bruce's cub reporter was in charge of photographing and reporting on the day.  Luckily Liz took some lovely pictures because most of mine weren't too good.

We had a gem of a day with glorious sunshine and minimal wind.  We also welcomed three new members to our club - Gillian, Michael and Jenny.  It was also nice to see Ken accompanying our support person on the day.  Thank you Lindsay for the yummy lunchtime munchies.  Kathy and Katie joined us for lunch at Blue Pools too.  Graham also gave us a history lesson along Crooked Lane.  Luckily the magpies were kind to us and we weren't swooped.  All in all we had a fantastic day and hopefully the Dads that came along had a great Father's Day.

Just a quick note on the Audax ride (Mike Rossiter) to Licola on the same day. We had some 48 starters that enjoyed a sunny day with a light headwind up that became a light tailwind home. The riders came from as far afield as Melbourne and Bairnsdale. The ride was under new management this year and with the success of the day will hopefully continue next year and beyond.

SADSAC: AGM and short ride 19August

The day turned out rather pleasant for the dozen or so riders. We headed out beside the base with a light downwind before turning north to Cobain's school. It was then a slight push back into the light westerly for the return to start. We ended up with about 20km.
The meeting was preceded by a relaxing BBQ lunch with plenty on the desert menu.
At the meeting there was very little change of office bearers. The only change was Ann taking over the role as Publicity Officer. One of the main items that I was keen to pass was the ride start date proposal. This had no opposition and was completely accepted. This should mean that the two clubs should have no clashes, apart from the odd weekend away ride, into the distant future. Other items of a more administrative nature will be covered by the minutes when they are distributed.
I was so involved in the day I missed out taking pictures.

TRAMPS: Trafalgar - Warragul 12August

A good group assembled at the Trafalgar Railway Station carpark for what would turn out to be one of the better rides for the year. The route was slightly different to my information but covered the same roads, but in a slightly different order. We were treated to some flat ground initially to get the legs working before arriving at the first climb just northwest of Yarragon. After that we encountered undulating terrain prior to arrival into town. This area is very pleasant riding country.
Lunch in the park at Warragul was rather relaxing and enjoyable. We even had Rhonda join us for lunch, Jos unable to attend as he was not looking too good.
The return journey had us retracing our steps initially before heading for the hills. The climbs were not as big as the profile suggested, being longer rather that steep. The run down from Shady Creek was not all easy going with the odd climb thrown in. The group had a couple of run outs towards the end just to exhaust our last bit of energy. The countryside and weather made this ride a big success.
